Purple Eye Shadow

On Sunday, I went for the dramatic look. I wore this purple eye shadow that actually looked really good. But one of the first things my family (Mainly my dad and my brother) said when I came up that morning, "Wow, where'd you get the black eye?"
I was reminded of that today, when Natalie Lloyd wrote her blog post, about pink lipstick and black eyes.
Sometimes the best thing to do when life throws you a curve ball is to put on that dramatic eye shadow, or that pink lipstick.
Like last night, it was a night for me when I was just feeling everything. I was watching private practice when I got frustrated at my hair. It just really bothered me, and I wanted nothing more then to grab scissors and give myself a haircut (Would have regretted that!) Instead, I spent half an hour sitting in front of the mirror getting my hair to look like Audrey Hepburn (Or so I say)
I remember my friend Paula's daughter saying once that if you're having a bad day you just need to put on some lipstick.
But isn't that sometimes the best thing to do? Put on some lipstick and get over it? Be creative, go for the bold, artsy look with your eye shadow, style your hair like a 50's and 60's icon?
Yeah, bad days are going to come. I'm going to spill on my shirt and my eye liner is going to attack my eye and I'm going to find out my classes for school start at 9:00am.
I'm going to get crazy medical reports and I can't untangle myself from yesterday's mistakes and I fall flat on my face.
But sometimes the best thing to do is get back up, and get back out there. Be girly, be crazy, be artsy and bold and passionate and creative and totally me... Because God still loves me.
His love for me is crazy, and I'm only now starting to realize it.
I've been thinking about God's love for me a lot lately, and I can't help but smile to myself sometimes. It's great to be moved by God's love.
So if you're brave enough to walk out that front door, to wear dramatic eye shadow, to have a modeling shoot in your basement even though you're not the most graceful person out there, to tell the guy you like how you feel, to be loud and outspoken and proud... there are going to be times when it hurts. But God's love doesn't change. Rest in His love, in His comfort, in His peace and promises.
Then go put on that lipstick and get back out there!

7 Quick Takes Volume 6

1. It seems like I haven't written/blogged in a while. Every time I think I should write a post and try to sit down and write one, nothing comes out ~ well nothing coherent anyway. Like Augustus Waters says in The Fault in Our Stars "My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations."
2. On the note of The Fault in Our Stars, I'm reading it for the third time since I got it about a week ago. I literally can't put it down! Everytime I read it, I discover something new to fall in love with, or fall in love with the same thing more and more. I know there are lots of people who've read this book, but it feels like my book. It's my story written in those pages. The thoughts that Hazel voices are my thoughts.
3. I got my hair cut on Monday. And my whole plan was to take a picture today and upload it onto the blog, but I'm too lazy to go dig for my camera and the cord, so I'm just going to describe it. It's short, and I think it kinda looks like Michelle Williams meets Kiera Knightley when she had short hair. But that's just me.
4. Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice season finale's were this week. That kind of made me sad, because... well it just did. They were both really intense finales. And I cried... in both of them. I can't wait to see what will happen next season, but, alas, I will have to wait. That's when I'm thankful for seasons on DVD!
5. I've had a couple of really bad nights, and days. And I kind of hate saying that I had a really bad night/day, but I did. In Campus Church on Wednesday, one of the things the preacher was talking about was God's call on our lives, and He had 5 points. All throughout the time I was listening, I kept hearing "I have you here for a reason." And He does. God has me here, right where I am, for a reason. And, in someway, He is going to use me. In someway I can't even see yet, this trial that is breaking my heart and taking everything so I have nothing left, He's going to use that. He's asking me, "Will I follow, even now? Will I still trust Him?" And the answer is yes, but only by His grace.
6. I am so excited it's the long weekend. I am really in need of a break. I keep thinking "Well, just make it past Tuesday and your busy streak will, hopefully, be done for a bit." But what about today? What about these 4 wonderful days off I've been given? So I'm going to rest
7. Can I tell you a secret? I'm going to be ok. Did you know that? I don't know if I did, and if I did I don't know if I've been clinging to God's promise that He knows the plans He has for me. But I'm going to be ok, no matter what happens. Everything is going to be ok, cause He's got the whole world in His hands. And In His Hands in the best place to be.

Scrambled Brains

Blogging is one of those things I probably should not be doing right now. Scratch that, writing in general is probably one of those things I should not be doing right now. It feels like my brain is scrambled and all the words I try to write come out wrong. When I couldn't seem to work on the story I'm writing, I figured it was just writer's block, the creative genius living inside my head taking a much needed break. When I couldn't blog or journal because everything I write seems to fall, like a pile of jello falling down, I decided my brain was just scrambled. I'm just going to write anyway. So read on and make sense of this post, if you dare...
1. I'm done L.A and Math! I finished L.A yesterday, and am 'quitting' math. Ok, not really quitting, but the stuff I was doing this year was so different from what Alberta is teaching, or something like that, so we're going to do something else, but for now, I'm done.
2. We figured out what I'm going to do for school next year. I was so unsure about what I was going to do. I was going to go back to regular school, then I wasn't cause I got the ulcer. I was going to stick with the stuff I am doing this year, no I'm not because I needed someone else to teach me, other then my mom. Now, though, I think we finally figured it out! I am doing online school, the same one I did in grade 8. We still have to figure some stuff out. The high school councelor is supposed to be calling tomorrow morning, and then we'll get some more stuff figured out then.
3. Remember that friend I told you about, the one who got the lung transplant? Well, I got an update, er sort of. His surgery went well. Hopefully his recovery will go well, and he'll be up and around soon.
4. I got my hair cut yesterday, and got some blonde streaks in it. Here's a picture...

It's raining here, and the other computer just lost internet, so I have to hurry up and post this before I lose internet too. I'll try and post more later, even if it is like jello sliding down...

Tada!

I dyed my hair, again, last night. It's red! Ok, it's more of an auburny reddish brownish whatever, but it is red. Look at the picture and call it what you will. Call it Chicken Salad if you want to (I read that in a book and I always wanted to use it.) Either way, I dyed my hair last night. And I can pull it off, the color I mean. Am I one of those people who looks good in any color of hair who I am always jealous of? Cause that would be kind of funny if I was. I think I've been every hair color out there know, Blonde, Brunette and now... a red head. Well... if it's true what they say, about red heads being more fiesty, then bring it on! Well, here's my new hair color. Lemme know what you think.

Random

I feel like all I ever talk about lately is being sick. It feels like that's all I think about. I'm either thinking about the pain or discomfort that I'm experiencing or thinking ahead to the next test. I'm always having to mentally keep track of my blood sugar and when I need to eat and how I need to work my schedule around that. For me, doing anything else would be totally wierd, since I've been doing this my whole life. But there are times when I stop and think about how, to everyone else, how I live and function is wierd. It's wierd to think about sometimes. Sometimes I think about everything I missed. I think of the things I didn't get to do because I was in the hospital or things I can't do because I'm sick and doing them would be dangerous. Sometimes I feel sad, that I didn't get to have a 'normal' childhood. I know that I gained so much too, but sometimes it doesn't help. I still feel sad for what I lost, even knowing everything I gained.
Here's a list about other stuff I want to say, but that is too long to write about.

  1. The tests went ok, I think. I got blood work (Only needed two pokes!) an X-Ray, some breath test where I had to drink this really sour, powdery lemonade thing and breathe into a tube and an ultrasound. So much for the ultrasound being a painless test, cause it hurt.

  2. My stomach has been bothering me lots in the past few days (Since Wednesday.) I took some chewy things today that might help, and they tasted like I was eating chalk.

  3. It is snowing. In June. I was all depressed the other day because it was June and I wasn't ready for summer and there's still so much for me to do. And now it snows. I have a thought that maybe God is laughing at my worries and showing me that He is in control.

  4. I was sitting in the chair this morning, all curled up in a blanket. I had just taken those chalk things and still wasn't feeling any better, and I was tired from the lack of sleep last night. Jaxon asked if I was feeling good and I said no. "It's ok, I'll help you," He told me. He went off to get my comb and hair elastics and started doing my hair. It was so sweet.

It's back!!!

I'm "accidentally" back in blonde! Really blonde! It started out as just streaks, but it ended up all over. no worries though, it looks great. and it's cut in sort of a Katie Holmes style bob thing, but blonde.

It looks great, even if it wasn't on purpose. The only downside will be the blonde jokes I'll have to endure. and no, I don't want to hear any.
